Fantasy & Science Fiction Writer
Michael is a Hooiser-turned-Texan who has been writing in the city of Austin for several years. He first got started writing FanFiction in 7th Grade, inspired by Fire Emblem and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, and has kept up writing ever since. He is strongly opposed to generative AI in the creative industry, and has thirty-seven journals cluttering his desk.
He graduated from the University of Evansville in 2017 with a BFA in Creative Writing, and immediately moved to Austin, TX to be with his wife after several years of a long-distance-relationship. The impact of digital communication upon interpersonal relationships is explored through works of short speculative fiction.
From 2018-2021, he pursued a career in special education. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, he worked as a 7th Grade ELA Teacher for emerging bilinguals. Michael is a strong advocate for mental health and inclusion of neurodiverse characters in fiction. He has struggled with anxiety, depression, and a recent autism diagnosis.
Michael organizes the Circle of Struggle: Writing Workshop, and has worked as a first reader for The Evansville Review. He has several pieces of short fiction currently out on submission, and won the Young Author’s Award in middle school with barely disguised Kingdom Hearts Fanfiction. His writing companion is a Brook’s Kingsnake, who has listened patiently to every piece of dialogue at least twice.
He is currently unpublished and not represented. This website is the latest of his current endeavors. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or for matters of representation
